Kristen Anne Bell, born 1980 in the United States of America, is an actress and singer. Bell was raised in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier) and is Nurse, and Tom Bell, a television news director. She is of Polish (mother's) as well as German (father's), English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Kristen was able to show a flair in the performing arts from an early age on stage. When she was in 1992, the actress attended her first audition, and was able to win a role in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell was contacted by an agent by her mother prior to the age of 13 and was subsequently cast as a model on television and newspaper commercials. She also started taking private acting classes around the age of 13. Bell played an uncredited part in Polish Wedding (1998), the film that was released in 1998. Bell went to Shrine Catholic High School and was a member of the music club and the drama club. She won the starring role as Dorothy in the school's play The Wizard of Oz. Bell attended New York City for the Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theater upon graduating. Bell completed her studies in 2001, resigned her college studies in order to take on her role as Becky as Becky in Tom Sawyer. The same year, she made her first credited debut in Pootie Tang (2001), however, her performance was cut and her character was not shown in the credit sequence. Bell was featured in the Broadway revival of The Crucible starring Liam Neeson as well as Angela Bettis.
