Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father left the family, she was grew up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. Ford suffered from anxiety disorder that was rooted in the word association when she was a child. Ford was intrigued by the profession of acting in her teenage years and she was a part of the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good for the school. Ford instead applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning the position on her 4th application. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's classmates. He was later to play regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford received her degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut, appearing in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1991. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties with shows such as The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Alongside her usual theatre work, Tate joined in the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedies, that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
