Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. The most well-known of her works is the lead in Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 The singer and actress who was christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of the many female musicians in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her professional career began as a model in the late 1970s. She also appeared on CHiPS. As the female protagonist of Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance from 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. She was replaced by Vanity by the female group Vanity 6 for her role in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter from the soundtrack was a minor hit for her trio but when she was Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You she was more successful. Kotero was able to break up with Prince after the two fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6.
