Awkwafina began as a American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexuality with a humorous twist. Before expanding into Hollywood the singer was able to release a number of songs. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was the first instrument she played for her. Then, she started hip-hop and classical training. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. Then, she even had an hour studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. She didn't start focusing on music until she completed her degree. Following her viral success on the Internet the track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the debut album Yellow Ranger. Some other hits that went viral included Queef song and the winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The single that debuted was is directly linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her 2015 travel guide. Her resume included both musicians and an author. Now she was looking for a new career path in acting. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018, with several high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
